At Hartside Primary School, we follow Pathways to Write, a carefully sequenced, evidence‑based writing programme that supports children from Year 1 to Year 6. Each unit is built around a high‑quality text, giving pupils rich opportunities to explore language, develop their ideas, and write with purpose.

Through Pathways to Write, our children learn to:

• Build strong foundations in sentence construction, grammar, handwriting, and spelling
• Apply key mastery skills progressively, with clear models and exemplification helping pupils understand what high‑quality writing looks like.
• Develop confidence through a sequence of reading, vocabulary exploration, short‑burst writing, and extended writing opportunities.

This consistent approach ensures that every child becomes a capable, enthusiastic writer who understands how to craft, improve, and take pride in their written work.
