Handwriting
At Hartside Primary Academy, we want every child to take pride in the presentation of their work. Our aim is that, by the end of Key Stage 2, all pupils develop fluent, legible cursive handwriting, while also confidently using printed and capital letters when appropriate. We teach children that different styles have different purposes, and that good handwriting is a lifelong skill that supports clear thinking, creativity, and effective communication.
Letterjoin
We use Letterjoin as our handwriting scheme – it offers a structured and progressive approach that builds up in small, logical steps. If you would like to access Letterjoin at home, please contact your child’s class teacher for login information.
Hartside Primary Academy Handwriting Guidance:

Handwriting at Home
Pupils are encouraged to practise their handwriting at home and the policy will be shared with parents via the school website and learning platforms. Teachers may also set pupils homework via the Pupil log-in for Letter-join, where children can watch animations, as well as practice and explore a variety of handwriting resources.
