All hands on!
Continuing with the topic of World War 2, Year 6 learned all about the blackout, before writing their very own Public Information Leaflet.
We blacked out the windows of the classroom, after we learned about the importance of buildings hiding in darkness, then on hearing the sound of the air raid siren, the children took cover in their ‘shelters’. Additionally, the children have created their own Propaganda posters having learned about the vital role which Women played during the War. In Science we have been growing mould. In an investigation to establish the best condition to keep a loaf of bread in, the children chose two different conditions to store their bread, then waited for the mould to grow, before writing their conclusions about the best storage conditions. In Art the children all sketched and coloured a self-portrait. The children then ‘Frida Kahlo’d’ their work, using jungle leaves backgrounds and vibrant flowers.
