Librarian
Our much‑loved school library is at the heart of our reading culture. Open every day over lunchtime, it offers children a welcoming space to explore stories, discover new authors, and develop a lifelong love of reading. Each class also enjoys dedicated time to engage in rich book talk — an opportunity to browse, discuss texts, and share recommendations as part of our whole‑school commitment to reading for pleasure. This approach reflects our wider reading ethos, where pupils are encouraged to access a diverse range of books and use the library as a regular part of their learning experience.
Our Year 6 librarians play a vital role in helping the library run smoothly. Working on a rota, they complete library “shifts” where they check books in and out, advise younger children on book choices, and help keep the space neat, organised, and inviting. Their leadership not only supports the day‑to‑day running of the library but also fosters responsibility, pride, and a sense of ownership within our oldest pupils — a wonderful example of pupil voice and teamwork in action.
