Sustainability
At Hartside Primary Academy, we believe that every small step can make a big difference in protecting our planet. Our dedicated Eco Warriors work closely with our Sustainability Lead to champion green initiatives across the school. From reducing waste to promoting energy efficiency, these passionate pupils lead projects that inspire the whole school community to think and act sustainably.
Last year, our Eco Warriors showcased their creativity and commitment by entering a national competition. They produced an engaging video highlighting how our solar panels help reduce carbon emissions and support renewable energy. Their hard work paid off—they were invited to the Houses of Parliament, where they networked with other schools, local MPs, and sustainability leaders from diverse backgrounds. This incredible experience strengthened our resolve to make positive environmental changes.
We are proud to be working with John Broderick from Let’s Go Zero, who is supporting us in developing a robust Climate Action Plan. This plan sets out clear steps to help us achieve net zero by 2028, ensuring that Hartside Primary Academy continues to lead by example in tackling climate change. Together, we are building a greener future for our pupils and our planet.
As part of our ongoing commitment, we are also taking part in the Walk to School initiative. Our children wear their badges with pride, showing that they are making healthy, eco-friendly choices every day. This simple action helps reduce traffic, lower emissions, and promote active lifestyles within our community.
