Science

Our Science curriculum aims to develop our children’s scientific curiosity and inspire them to ask and answer scientific questions about the world around them.  

Starting EYFS, children will begin to make sense of their physical world and their community. Once in to KS1, this continues in more depth with learning about animals, plants and items they may use in their lives. As they progress to KS2, children will start to delve further in to scientific concepts, and become more knowledgeable about how to carry out an investigation. Our small-step lessons have been written specifically for our children, making them relatable to their lives. As well as this, our lessons are hands-on and interactive, allowing for the children to experience the science, first-hand for themselves. Thread through our lessons are the five scientific enquiry types (Comparative and fair testing, Identifying, classifying & Grouping, Observing over time, Pattern seeking and Researching), which, together with our topics of Science build up a coherent knowledge of scientific concepts and enquiry which can be related to everyday life. Children will be encouraged to ask questions and challenge ideas to broaden their understanding, as they take their journey to becoming scientists.
