Quad Kids Athletics Competition
There were some fantastic team and individual performances as the boys and girls from Key Stage Two once again demonstrated their fantastic sporting talents at the Sainsbury's School Quad Kids Athletics competition.
Our amazing Year 5/6 team competed against 40 other school teams in the area and our fabulous Year 3/4 team competed against 32 teams. Each of our team members took part in 4 events, these included: a sprint, a long distance run, the standing long jump and the throwing of a howler. After completing each event, each team member was awarded a score and these were then totaled together along with their teammates' scores.
The Year 3/4 team displayed some superb performances and were extremely happy with their achievements. Many of the boys took the lead in some of their events and the other team members were close behind them. Every team member played their part and the children came 7th place overall - an amazing result!
Children in the Year 5/6 team are now experts in these events so knew exactly what they needed to do. They used their experience and many of them took the lead in their sprints and long distance races and then they again stormed ahead when throwing the howler, with Gabriel making a phenomenal throw of 30 metres! With all of these outstanding performances the Year 5/6 team were rewarded by taking 1st place on the day! It was an incredible, remarkable win! I cannot put into words how proud I am of you all!
Many of the Year 5/6 team have now been nominated to attend the Athletics qualifiers on the 17th June, and if they again demonstrate their remarkable skills they will then be selected to represent the county and compete in the Athletics level 3 competition. I can't wait to see how they do and am so proud of each and every one of them. Well done Hartside!
